6/28 Random Post
My fiance is in the Navy. Because he is leaving soon I somehow acquired two dogs from his fellow shipmates. I can't get the one to stop eating my cats food. My poor cat is freaking out. I have had one dog for about 4 days now and the other just came here tonight and has been howling for the last couple of hours. I have never had a dog, so this is defiantly an experience for me!
Just bought a new couch last week. Good vibes this way for my couch please! I hope it makes it through this experience also.

#145 Wine tasting
This happened yesterday!
My fiance and I went to Oneo Wines in Kailua Hawaii to try out some of their wines and get some bottles made for our wedding. The guy that worked there was AWESOME and the wine of course was AMAZING because I love wine! In front of me is my grading sheets and the woman at the table behind me were busy with their bottling party!

Ok heres the run dun
I originally started this blog on Tumblr. After using Tumblr for a little bit and realizing that I didn't have a lot of followers I began to think to myself...Why? Well because I was blogging! Tumblr users are more into pictures and quotes then actual blogs. So I decided to continue the rest of my journey on Blogger so I can get more people to be interested in it.
Here is my tumblr for the orginal dates and posts including some extra hiking trips!

Read the All Time 100 Novels
The Assistant by Bernard Malamud
Incredibly written novel that takes place in the Bronx in New York city. The novel centers around the Bober family who own a local grocery store. Because of commercialism and high end grocery markets being built around the Bober’s business, they financially are doing very poor because they can’t match the prices of the big time grocery stores. It is an insightful book that shows the transition of classic American life to a commercial American life. In the meantime the author brings the reader’s attention to the new store clerk and his influence on the Bober family both personally and professionally. The book does a good job showing the decline of family owned stores (besides the local liquor store owner who does very well for himself throughout the story).
The novel starts off with an armed robbery stealing the pathetic amount of cash from the Bober’s register. The book just continues on a downward spiral for many of the characters which results in a very entertaining, unfortunate, and realistic story. If you are feeling bad about your life, or think that you have really bad luck try reading this novel because you are guaranteed to feel some aspect of your life as being more amazing then you could ever imagine. Seriously, pick this book up.

#193 Read times 100 best novels of all time…
Done and done, although not too easy with this one. I found this book very tedious. I have a hard time reading long novels that go WAY into detail about everything.
The novel had a great storyline however. It takes place in Chicago during the Great Depression in America, which is probably why it is seen as such an American classic. The book opens up with a young Augie March who is stealing with one of his school age friends, and a very strict Polish grandmother who makes her two grandsons work hard for their supper. The book goes on and on through random jobs and random lovers throughout Augie’s life during the depression. Even throughout Augie’s life he remembers his Polish background and his grandmother’s words of harsh wisdom cause the book to have a great deal of satire. The book deals with a lot of common themes, including love and loss, wealth and poverty, the highs and lows of life, struggles to conformity, death, disability, and many many others. I think Augie is a relatable character. I know at times I would stop and think to myself “damn, I am kind of like Augie. I don’t have a guaranteed plan for myself and often just go with the flow of life”. Or, for the stronger person they might think “Damn! I can definitely see myself training an eagle to hunt lizards in the depth of a Mexican jungle.”
Overall, I am glad I read it…maybe not so much at first, but it has a fantastic ending. Do I recommend it? Yes, if you have plenty of time to waste :)
#48 Go whale watching
This was a complete accident! We didn’t really go whale watching, but we were at Halona Blowhole in Hawaii and right there in the water were some humpback whales! Really exciting and unexpected. Don’t know how clear the pictures came out but hey I remember it they were breaching out of the water every 5 minutes or so!

I can cross off Item #196 Wooohooo!
My amazing fiance and I spent 3 magical days in Walt Disney World in Orlando Flordia during his leave from the Military January 1-3. We had an amazing time. The first night we stayed was a complete accident. We were supposed to be meeting Anthony’s family in Cape Coral on the first, but since we were driving from New Orleans the day before we decided it would have been wiser to just spend an extra day at Disney! We spent the night walking around downtown Disney where we ate at Fulton’s Crab house. A very cute restuarant modeled after a steamboat sitting on the lake. The service was very disney! Everyone everywhere was exceptional. I had a wonderful time. The next day we switched hotels to meet up with his family at the Saratoga Springs resort.
The Saratoga Springs resort was a nice touch to our vacation, because it was modeled exactly like the home town Saratoga that I grew up in! Even the street names were the same (Ave. Of Pines, Congress Park) and the hotel room looked like many of my friend’s apartments that live in the old victorian houses. The whole thing was surreal and oddly comforting.
We spent our next day at Universal and Hollywood studios and we also spent time on the very vacant (sunday night) Boardwalk.
Our last day in Disney we went to Epcot where we got to drink around the world! This was a wonderful thing to be crossed off my bucket list, and everything I dreamed that Disney would be. Magical!
Read Times 100 Best Novels
Time's list of the 100 Best novels
I want to read every novel on this list. As of today these are the titles that I have already completed reading…“Atonement” (2002)- Ian McEwan (Great story. Favorite quote: “The cost of oblivious daydreaming was always this moment of return, the realignment with what had been before and now seemed a little worse)
“Gone with the Wind” (1936)- Margaret Mitchell (This is my all time favorite novel. So much better than the movie, although the movie is very good too. Favorite quote and let me be cliche: “My dear, I don’t give a damn”. I have always wanted to say that to someone!)
“The Great Gasby” (1925)- Scott Fitzgerald (Who hasn’t read “The Great Gasby”? I enjoyed it better the second time around)
“Light in August” (1932)- William Faulkner (I am not going to lie, this was a slow painful read)
“Lord of the Flies” (1955)- William Golding (Don’t remember a lot of it, except a lot of talk about how Piggy liked boys? Might have to go back and re-read it)
“The Lord of the Rings” (1954)- J.R.R. Tokien (Epic Adventure)
“To Kill a Mockingbird” (1960)- Harper Lee (All I remember is that no actual mockingbirds were harmed in the making of this book)
WOW 7 out of 100! I have a lot of reading to do! Guess my feminists pieces didn’t make the cut, such as “The Awakening” or “O! Pioneers”. Probably because they were terrible. Classics…but terrible terrible torture.
There you have it...
There are some things I must do one step at a time in order to get them done. These are the following…
3-34, 36, 37, 69, 70, 92, 114, 115, 140, 144, 149, 193, and 199
Unfortunatly, you are just going to have to take the above journey’s along with me. Some of them I have already started.
I am sure you are going to find out a lot about me. For quick summary’s sake I will start by saying I am 21 years old, engaged and living in Hawaii because my fiance is stationed at Pearl Harbor. Being with someone in the military is different. After months of sitting in the house complaining, I realized I needed goals. I have never been the person to sit down and really think about goals and start to achieve them. I am more of the person to take life as it goes. Finally Anthony (my fiance) sat down with me and made me realize that we only get one life. We only get the chance to do everything once. Why in Earth would I sit at home and be miserable, when I can go do things most people never even dream about doing? So here goes my life story, with my computer and my camera in hand.
